About Men's Bible Study: Books of the Bible (Wednesday mornings)
This semester, we are continuing our study of 1 Corinthians using NT Wright's 1 Corinthians for Everyone as a guide.
This fairly long letter was definitively written by Paul. It was written while Paul was in Ephesus (Asia, modern day Turkey) to the church in Corinth that was planted on his second missionary journey. He had spent a year and a half in Corinth on that previous trip. He is now in Ephesus on his third missionary journey where he is thought to have resided two or three years. It would end with a riot in the local coliseum where Paul is almost ripped apart. Corinth is located on the Adriatic side of the Greek isthmus and was a Roman-city metropolis. He is writing this letter upon hearing that his church family in Corinth is falling apart. He will be heading there when he leaves Ephesus.

It makes me think of how I might respond when my kids are fighting with each other. Why are they fighting? What should I say or not say? What should I do? We Christians are peace seekers but not pacifiers. How will Paul lead them? What can we learn from this letter that applies directly to our lives?
